Collaborative Purchasing: What kind of stuff do you need?

Wouldn’t it be nice to find out you could save some money by reading this blog?  Well this is your chance!

Leave your comments below on products, services or anything your department may need.  The Purchasing department will keep a running list and try to pair up matches.

Your comments can be as simple as: “NYC Chemistry looking for 3 inch test tubes”

Example:

NYC Biology – Looking for 5,000 pairs of rubber gloves
Pleasantville Nursing – Looking for 3,000 pairs of rubber gloves

Biology spends $1,500 on 5,000 pairs of gloves @ $0.30 per pair
Nursing spends $1,350 on 3,000 pairs of gloves @ $0.45 per pair

While the Purchasing department can spend $1,760 on 8,000 pairs at $0.22 per pair.

Revised collaborative purchasing effort:
Biology spends $1,100 on 5,000 pairs of gloves @ $0.22 per pair – Savings of $400
Nursing spends $660 on 3,000 pairs of gloves @ $0.22 per pair – Savings of $690

  1. Collaborative purchasing saves resources! Pace CCLE looking for toner savings. Currently, we are paying on average $74 per toner…any way we can collaborate on this purchase for a cost savings???
